Cohort 2 of the Upshift program had its first session for week 5 on 30th August 2021. The session focuses on the progress reports for the various projects of the students. There was also a discussion on the Business Model Canvas.
Ms. Oreo started the session by asking the students to give a progress report on their projects. The students were required to present on where they had gotten to so far as regards their social innovation projects. After which the trainer introduced the business model canvas. The discussed four blocks of the model; which were value proposition, customer relationships, customer segments, and channels.
Each group responded to the questions about their work according to each block while the trainer supervised. The first block; Value propositions focused on the value to deliver, the bundle of products or services being offered to customers, and the customer needs that were being satisfied. The Customer relationship block was centered around the kind of relationships the customers expect. The customer segment block also looked at who the most important customers are. Finally, the last block, which is Channel, focused on the channels which the customers want to be reached.
The last hour of the class was used for group meetings to allow the students to work on their projects, prototypes, and pitch decks. After which the class ended and the students departed.
