On Friday 12th February 2021, the participants of Women In Digital Skills 11.0 and Soronko Rotary Girls Coding Project Cohort 3 engaged in a soft skills session with Mrs Akosua Koranteng on Public Speaking and Brand Personality Development. She joined the class via Zoom to stay in line with COVID-19 safety guidelines and regulations.
Mrs Koranteng described a brand as “how others see you”. She stated the 3 C’s in building a personal brand involves Conviction, Commitment and Connecting. These 3 C’s help you relate with people on different levels. She pointed out that a personal brand requires identifying your greatest strengths, embracing your flaws, and appreciating your journey thus far. It also requires acquiring new skills, being relatable and giving your time for what you are passionate about, which includes volunteering.
She encouraged everyone to be focused, goal-oriented and wished to have a face-to-face session with them soon and elaborate more on the topic.
The session continued with Madam Josephine Offei, the Career and Guidance Counsellor advisor of Soronko Academy, engaging the ladies in a discussion about volunteering and entrepreneurship. She highlighted how important having a personal brand could go a long way in creating opportunities, especially on social media, and motivated everyone to do more to be better individuals.
