The third week for Women in Digital Skills kicked off on 14th June 2021.
The class looked at what social media marketing is, tips to grow on social media, and tools for effective social media marketing. The participants were then taken through the steps needed to build their social media marketing strategy and further went deeper into the processes necessary for each of these strategies discussed.
To make the class more interactive and practical, the trainers led the students in creating Facebook accounts for those who did not have accounts and business pages that would be used to engage customers and for brand awareness. They went further to set up Facebook business suite to run more specific and well-targeted ads and schedule posts.
The second session of the class began with the tutors introducing the topic of web design and development. He explained the two terms and explained how these two topics could be helpful to a social media marketer or digital marketing. He described the importance of website design and development to a digital marketer and how one can transition to this widely developing space.
The tutors explained what a website is and the different components of a website. He went on to teach the stages of web development to the students by a diagram. The students learned who a website designer is and what his role is in a software team. The trainers touched on the four types of designers who put together the website’s aesthetics, feel, and functionality into a prototype. The developer can either be front-end, back-end, or full-stack developing on their skill set, he added. Participants then learned about each type and how to become each of them.
The students saw wireframes designed and studied how to do it themselves. After that, the ladies drew the wireframes for their group websites as well. They then created their versions of the same wireframes with different levels of complexity.
