The third week of the Soronko ABCDE V-stem program began with a test, this test was to evaluate the students’ performance in the last two weeks. Afterwards, the topic for the day was introduced which was Website Development. Before the session began the trainer highlighted five things that are essential to their lesson in Google Slides and Docs. These things were cloud storage, inserting an image by URL, sharing, editing, and commenting and finally making your document available offline
The trainer explained what a Website is, how it works and the things to consider when building a website. Ms Oreo also made them understand that a website includes text, images, videos. She also made them aware of the three main things a website is required to have which is a Domain name eg. (www.facebook.com), Hosting services eg. (Blue, Infinity Free) and Design and Development.
Next, the trainer introduced the class to the methods of Design & Developments in which she made examples such as coding languages and content management systems like WordPress which they would be using in the class. She also thought them local and added that local hosting involves using your computer as a server for your website and can be set up via a local web stack such as XAMPP or a virtual sandbox environment.
In closing, today’s session, students were given class assignments and were told to create a website using all the steps they had learnt today.
