The first session of week two of the WIDS class began with a recap of what they learned last week.
Digital marketing strategies such as defining your goal, analyzing your context, being strategic with your content, plan resources, implement and measure your efforts were discussed. They had a practical session on some of these strategies using Google analytic and Google Ad to track activities on their website and to drive more visitors to the websites. Their trainers assisted the ladies in registering their business accounts on Google Ad and Google Analytics as well. Also, the class went further to discuss some approaches that can enable a business to rank better in the search result. Some of the tips discussed were the use of strong keywords that matched a business to set a title and description, targeting ads to specific locations, and also targeting ads to a specific audience based on searches. Participants were introduced to how to create simple logos for their various businesses using the Logomakr platform.
One of the Lead trainers, Cyril, delivered training on Content Strategy in which the students had a breakout session to discuss the business goals, business description, and social media campaign for their grouped project work. The lead trainer carefully assessed all submitted assignments and advised the students to ensure their business description is brief and compelling. Following the breakout session, the students received lessons on What is Content Strategy. According to the trainer, content strategy is using content to achieve your business goals on social media. A good content strategy attracts customers and delights them at every stage in the buyer’s journey. The top goal of a social media marketer is to increase brand awareness, sales generation, increase community engagement, grow brand audience and increase web traffic. To develop your content strategy., one must audit your social media pages, have a clear goal for your content, Who will view your content, what social media platforms are you going to use, what makes you unique, plan your content format, design your content calendar, decide how you will publish, analyze and track your posts.
