Cohort 2 of the UPSHIFT Social Innovation Training had its second session for week 4 on 25th August 2021, the participants of the Upshift program learned how to design and download illustrations for slides as well as organize them.
The session started with the students wrapping up certain concepts on Google slides. The trainer helped them discover templates on www.slidesgo.com which could be used for their final presentations regarding the area of their problem statements and solutions. Miss Oreo explained the various slides that make the business model template as an example. These slides had content such as problem vs solution, market statistics, and competition. Together with the students, the trainer made changes to the slides to suit her preferred business model. Among these changes were background images, font styles, outline colors of text boxes, and symbols. This activity was to help them get familiar with the new concepts introduced earlier. Again, she explained that the alignment of texts as well as the choice of colors plays an important role in making presentation slides.
Later, Miss Oreo gave a brief demonstration on how to present pitch decks using slides. First, they must introduce themselves, say a quote then state the causes of their problems and solutions. Then talk about distinctive features that make your platform different from your competitors and also introduce the team behind the work. She asked them to watch the shark tank series which will give them proper pitch presentation ideas.
At the end of the session, the trainer gave the students the assignment to make slides that represent their pitch decks after which they departed to their various homes.
