Soronko Rotary Girls Coding Project is a program in partnership with the Rotary Club of Limburgerhof/Vorderpfalz in Germany and Rotary Club of Accra Airport with funding support from Rotary International is designed to equip young female SHS graduates from underprivileged backgrounds to gain Tech and leadership skills.
The project is inspired by the words of the former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon who said, “Equality for women and girls is not only a basic human right it is a social and economic imperative. Where women are educated and empowered, economies are more productive and strong. Where women are fully represented, societies are more peaceful and stable.” The project will be built around coding and include training in leadership, etiquette and entrepreneurial skills. After the program selected girls will be supported to study technology-related courses in the University, take part in internships towards gaining jobs or work in a business solution centre that will be set up as part of the project.
The training is for free as it seeks to enhance the tech skills of young ladies from an underprivileged background.
This year’s first cohort would begin on 18th January 2021, every Tuesday, Thursday & Friday from 10:00am – 1:00pm.
