On the 18th of January was the successful launch of the #girlscancode at The Ghana India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT. The project will train 300 girls in the 10 regions in Ghana in 2 years in coding and entrepreneurship. The launch was done by Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana .She is really an amazing woman. So graceful, elegant, intelligent, friendly, beautiful….. We can go on and on but I know you get my point). This project was spearheaded by Ambassador Johanna Odonkor Svanikier President of Heritage and Cultural Society of Africa with support from the project partners. It was a pleasure to have Dorothy Gordon a woman who has been very supportive and someone we admire representing IFAP on the project.
The highlight for us was our girls.(Rosemary, Clara, Esther and Fremah) They demoed the websites they had built and talked about their experience learning to code. They also talked about the business and foundations they had started. They were beyond amazing, so confident , so eloquent , so inspiring. They brought some people to tears including the team.
