Week 5 wrapped on 9th July 2021 with a soft skills session with Mrs Georgette Barnes, CEO of Georgette Barnes Ltd. on the topic Entrepreneurship- Dare to Dream.
Mrs Georgette started the session by asking the ladies to take turns to introduce themselves to her. She then asked them what their definition of entrepreneurship is and also named some examples of giant entrepreneurs they know.
She later explained what entrepreneurship is. According to her, it is the activity of setting up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit. She later spoke about who an entrepreneur is and the skills needed to become an entrepreneur.
She then did an icebreaker activity after which she put the participants into 3 different groups and tasked each group to come up with a business idea with an initial capital of 1000 cedis.
After 15 mins of deliberating, the ladies selected one person each who presented their ideas to the class. After the presentations, Mrs Georgette adjudged one of the groups with the name ‘Agility Thrift’ as the best group for the day.
She later spoke about how one can become an Entrepreneur. She ended the session by sharing her own experiences in entrepreneurship and how the journey has been so far.
