On Friday 26th April we celebrate #GirlsinICTDay at Soronko Academy in partnership with MTN Ghana Foundation. The event was a huge success. We had 70 girls present who were inspired by Women in Tech from MTN Ghana. The girls got to ask questions and learn more from these women. The girls also got the opportunity to interact and learn more about web, mobile, Internet of Things, Artificial intelligence and drone technology from other women in tech and women from our Women in Digital Skills Cohort who had built these technology solutions. There was an innovation challenge and the girls were given a problem and had to brainstorm which technology they would use to solve it.
I was not at the event since I was in #Amsterdam with Vlisco. I always say I may be the face of the company but the real work is done by amazing dream team at Soronko Academy. They organized a great event. The girls left inspired, informed and had a great time. I can’t wait for the next #GirlsinICTDay and follow up with the girls to see the impact of the event.
MTN Ghana is an amazing organization that gives back in a impactful way. MTN Ghana Foundation has been transforming lives in a meaningful way and we are truly privileged to get the opportunity to work with them as they also believe in bridging the gender gap and getting more women and girls to be empowered using technology as a tool. Special thanks to Georgina Asare Fiagbenu and Cynthia Daiki Akuteye. Special thanks to also the Women in Tech from MTN.
Kofi Darko is an ICT teacher who deserves special recognition for his hardwork and passion. Special thanks to him for being a great partner. Special thanks to Ethel Adjorlolo Marfo Special thanks also to all the exhibitors, invited guests and everyone who made the event a success.
