Code with Agility(Digital Marketing and Web Development) week 5 began with an inspection of assignments. The trainer later introduced participants to WordPress and its various functions.
With supervision, the participants selected the themes for their various websites.
The session ended with the participants creating the tabs for their websites.
The trainer explained how to use fonts, and insert images, and videos on websites using WordPress.
In digital marketing, content creation is key. As such, the participants had the opportunity to explore free online resources, where they could download images and icons, and edit elements. With assistance, the participants created their home pages.
For the python group, participants started their first Django app. The trainer explained the view function and how to create URLs using Django.
The ladies created the blog app within their Django project. They run a command in their shell to create an app folder to will help them with all the files and resources they will need for their blog app.
Participants created their user accounts on the Django administration website. They went ahead to insert a blog extension so they could easily use their templates for different pages.
He ended the session by explaining to them how to navigate through their directory and inputting codes to work on their blog app.
Zainab Ibrahim, the Career Development Intern at Soronko Academy, led the soft skills session on CVs and Resumes. She said, “CVs are a detailed description of a person in terms of education, work experience, skills and achievements. CVS are usually more than a page and is unlimited. A resume is a one-page document that highlights one’s experiences, skills and achievements.”
She also said they have to include their job role and the achievements they had in the work experience section of their CV to show the impact they have created for their past employers that they can transfer to the job they are applying to.
She ended the session with some tips on writing cover letters.
